A rather risky but very hopeful cross with our almost two year old, but still awesome female and our fabulous dark body red male, who only shows any of his irids and black edges with a good macro and a strong flash. He needs a stronger body and a cleaner topline. The female has amazing everything apart from her head which is very pug like and weaker colour. She was the only fish in her spawn with this issue, and no other fish in the further generations from her line has shown any problems so we are hoping this was purely environmental. She has never shown any issues with eating or holding condition. We are hoping she will tidy him up a little on the edges, and add strength to the body as she is from a very stocky line.

​As the male is an egg eater, he was removed from the nest which all but a small amount were infertile. Photos will come when we can actually see the handful of babies in a tank full of hidey holes ;)
