Betta Smaragdina are a lovely wild type betta from the Splendens complex. While there are many beautiful hybridised strains such as the copper strains, we try to stick to the pure wild strain (as far as we are aware) due to the growing pressure on wild populations. The smaragdina are facing the following threats in their natural environment including agriculture causing habitat destruction, and introduced genetic material. They are currently classified as red on the IUCN list. Here we will record photos of our breeding group and record where our breeding stock came from.
